D&D SPYGLASS (2022)

A physical spyglass & digital calendar for my hexcrawl D&D game

Platform: Web

Engine: Unity

Role: Programmer / Designer

Development: Hobby

(2022) [Short]

Synopsis:
The physical spyglass is constructed out of some old poster tubes, with an old android phone housed on the end. Uses the phone's gyroscope to simulate virtual looking.

I painted around 200 hexes and laid out the map I wanted on an old satellite dish we had, which gave it a great globe feel. Then I converted the map into the digital grid and wiped off everything but the starter location, so the players could fill out the map as they progressed!

The spyglass itself is constructed out of a couple of old poster tubes & a cardboard box, all painted. The box houses the phone, has space for a charging port, and can open in order to take the phone out when needed.
The two poster tubes are inserted one within the other with catches so the spyglass can be extended/retracted but the tubes can’t separate completely.
